While not exactly reassured by the risk being described as 'not much' rather than 'absolutely none' or 'completely negligible,' Carlisle holds Glacius' hand as the alien retracts his icy layer, trying to support his partner's choice in this. Glacius had offered, and he'd agreed; better to see it through than seem indecisive, or worse, give Glacius the impression he doesn't care for all of him, including what lies beneath his frozen shell.
Admittedly, what does lie beneath is not what he expected... and somehow, perfectly fitting for what's been protected by that icy armor. There's a moment of hesitation as Glacius squeezes his hand, not because he is so very alien -- more so than normal -- or because he's some kind of horrifying creature Carlisle can't place as Glacius, but because the clergyman is afraid he might somehow injure his partner when he's so terribly vulnerable. It's not just the apparent fragility of his body that makes that vulnerability obvious, but the look in his eyes, one that's so full of trepidation. He's the one who should be constantly apprehensive, not Glacius.
But more importantly, Carlisle knows he should trust his partner in this. He may not be so sure in all aspects of their relationship, but in this... he knows he should. That's why he leans forward, his touch delicate as he places his hand on the scar that mars the alien's face.
"It's nice to see you," he says quietly, nothing between them but his glasses.
