Hello, this is Carlisle. I mean, it's not Carlisle as in I'm actually answering you right now, so if you're trying to reply to me at the second, you should probably save your breath because I'm not really here. This is some kind of a recording of my voice, but this is my communicator. I'm going to assume these devices are as common here as they are in other places — not my world, but others, ones more technologically advanced than where I come from— so if you'd like to leave me a message, then you may do so here, or er... Right. Here is fine. So just leave yo— [beep] |

[If what he truly wishes is to spare those he cares for the pain of having to watch him decay into a creature far worse than this, then he is going to have to suffer a far more painful and long-lived option. Even if living long is the opposite of his expectations.]
Very well.
[She starts to stand, her towering and lanky stature looming over Carlisle once again.] What I offer is not something that I do so lightly, but not something that I have never done before. You still have some time to weigh your options, so I suggest you think over them soon.
...I would also suggest perhaps telling your friend not to make arrangements with souls for your sake without your knowledge. It isn't very becoming to seek out help in such a way. [And probably then Kate will actually believe that Ravine was true to her word. She's no bullshitter.]

And it will draw nearer if he does nothing until there is nowhere to run from it. Even death is not the release, however lonely and remorseful, he thought it would be.]
I will speak with her, as well as figure out what options I have. Only once I know what they are may I put some consideration into them.
[Given what she has said, he doubts he'll have to seek Ravine out to give her an answer on what he'll do. She will find him easily enough. He looks her way, tilting his face upward.]
I know you said you were obligated to help me, and I admit I still don't quite understand why, but... thank you. Sincerely.

[At his response, she nods.]
I shall be here when you decide.
[Whether she means in the literal sense, that she will appear from seemingly out of nowhere as she had just moments prior, or something more supportive and meaningful, she doesn't clarify. She could even be referring to being here in the city altogether, rather than sent back to her own dying planet through the Door of this world. It is no concern to her either way.]
It is not necessary for you to understand, but you are welcome.
[With that, she turns and leaves through the door she came in from.
[Should Carlisle try to follow or look out immediately after, any trace of Ravine ever having been there is gone.]
