Hello, this is Carlisle.

I mean, it's not Carlisle as in I'm actually answering you right now, so if you're trying to reply to me at the second, you should probably save your breath because I'm not really here. This is some kind of a recording of my voice, but this is my communicator. I'm going to assume these devices are as common here as they are in other places — not my world, but others, ones more technologically advanced than where I come from— so if you'd like to leave me a message, then you may do so here, or er...

Right. Here is fine. So just leave yo—

It, like all things, is a learned skill. [Glacius muses, working on the last of his bread now.] And I will do what I can to see to it that you do learn. That's part of the reason why I always invite you to join me in my breathing and stretching exercises in the morning... I find that sort of thing very relaxing, a good way to calm the mind before heading out to tackle the challenges of the day. And when those challenges do prevent themselves, or when you find things going wrong, it's important to know how to talk yourself down... things are rarely as bad as we make them out to be, and becoming panicked or distraught only serves to make them worse.

[Finishing up his lunch, Glacius neatly folds the paper that it was wrapped up in, leans back and takes a breath of the fresh air, then opens his eyes and looks to Carlisle again.] We'll work on it together, as we do all other things. Are there any particular obstacles you find yourself getting caught on when problems do arise, that keep you from handling them as well as you'd like?
glacius: (I suppose so.)

[Glacius gives him a look that suggests he is not entirely convinced by that answer--but perhaps the clergyman just does not want to focus on such things while they are enjoying a simple, peaceful time together. So he relents, lifting one shoulder and tossing his head to the side in the ice alien equivalent of a shrug.] Well, if you discern any, I am always here to talk about it. In the meantime, thank you for the food and companionship. It certainly brightened my day.

As well you should! I hope we can make a habit of it, honestly. I am loathe to go our separate ways as is, but I suppose it would not be becoming of me to step away from my post for too long. Now, is there anything else you need of me? Have I settled your mind? I would be a poor partner if I let you walk away with something worrying you or nagging at the back of your thoughts.
glacius: Focus less on the where and more on the going. (Destination fever.)

[Glacius seems satisfied with that answer for the time being. When Carlisle squeezes against his hand he butts against him one last time, then allows the clergyman to get up, doing the same shortly after.] Ha... well, I wish the results could be more tangible at times, but one step at a time, I suppose. I do appreciate you saying so. In the meantime just focus on tonight, and we'll see if we can't get it settled the rest of the way.

Now, come. Spire Two is on the way back to the bridge that leads to the Guard's Headquarters. We can enjoy each other's presence for a little bit longer still. [With that he loops an arm around Carlisle's shoulders as has become their usual situation, leading them out of the park and back towards the curve in the road that takes them past the wooden bridge and sweeps towards their Spire. At that point their paths diverge, and Glacius gives his partner one last parting nuzzle, thanking him again for a wonderful outing. The day is going to seem longer now that he has such enjoyable evening plans... but that's more than alright with him, as it gives him something extra to look forward to.]
