Only one god? Of course not. Even my world has multiple.

But these beings here are not gods.

They're not omnipotent, for one, nor omniscient. It took but a handful of people here to gather enough power to challenge them.

I suppose not, but if that's the case, then the 'deities' here are incredibly subpar and don't exactly fit the definition of a god.

Then I hope we find a way to escape this place before they embolden themselves. The control they have over us is alarming enough.

[Despite having people to go back to, it is a lonely life, something Carlisle isn't up for admitting. He finds his silver flask and unscrews the top, having a sip from it -- because more alcohol is clearly what he needs.]

I know that is not the case for everyone, but I am the sort who didn't wander far from home before being torn from it.

[Despite having his personal flask taken from him, Carlisle is fairly passive, watching dully as Shadow heads to the sink, his worries more focused on the flask itself than what's inside. Should he try to empty it, Shadow will find it seems to contain far more ale than a container of its size logically should, but after a solid minute of pouring, it will finally stop.

That's okay. It'll have more tomorrow. Thus is the nature of the enchantment on it.]

[Carlisle gladly takes his flask, tucking it away for safety. It was an expensive gift, and one he's likely to never get again, should it be ruined.]

No, though I believe they make it at the bar. [He rubs at his eyes for what feels like the umpteenth time.] Why?

Unless you can remake me in the image of someone far better, than no. I don't believe there's anything you can do.
